The female debtors problem is one of the phenomena that has become a source of concern for Egyptian society, since this phenomenon is not a result of the present time, but there are social, economic and cultural factors that have led to its occurrence. Further, it has led to many problems which ended with the inability of the female debtors to repay their debts and to imprisoned for that reason, which led them to face many social, economic, health and psychological problems with their families throughout the period of imprisonment. This is not the end of the matter. however, the female debtors begin to suffer new problems, starting from the moment of their release. This requires intervention from government authorities, especially the civil society institutions, which considered to be as the third partner for the public and private sectors in the development and solving social problems, especially the social and economic problems of the poor. As the State and its public and private institutions are unable to deal with this phenomenon, the civil society institutions was obliged to intervene to help in facing the problems of the female debtors generally and of those who are released specially and to alleviate this crisis. Therefore, the present Research sought to identify the female debtors’ problems in Egyptian society, starting from the factors that led them to the debt and the reasons that led to their inability to repay till the problems facing them after their release and getting them out of prison and the role of Civil society institutions in facing these problems.
