Abstract The present thesis is divided into two parts, which includes two systems, the first system is entitled: ”Multi –walled carbon nano tubes (MWCNTs) fillers with different concentration (0, 0.008, 0.02, 0.05, 0.08, 0.1) wt% were added to optimum concentration of (80/20) wt% Poly (vinyl alcohol) / Sodium alginate biopolymer blend using casting technique method to study the effects on the physical properties of PVA/SA biopolymer blend to use in biological applications such as drug delivery The prepared films were investigated by different techniques to study the effect of the reinforcing filler (MWCNTs) on the physical, thermal and mechanical properties of the biopolymer blend. All techniques demonstrate that the addition of MWCNTs to the biopolymer blends can improve the structural and mechanical properties of the biocomposites comparing to the pure biopolymer blend and according to all that results this biocomposites may be used in many biological applications such as drug delivery systems. The second system entitled” Moxifloxacin loading to the best concentration of MWCNTs (0.05 wt %), which concluded from the first system various concentrations (0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 wt %) of Moxifloxacin were added to the optimum concentration of PVA/SA/MWCNTs (80/20/0.05) wt% and prepared by casting technique. The results show thatPVA/SA/MWCNTs biocomposite can serve as good drug carriers because it can decrease side effects of the drug by varying its drug release mechanism. Which mean that the therapeutic agents not only could be delivered to specific location via targeted deliver but also must release at a specific time and certain conditions. |
