Abstract

Matching the students’ aptitudes and competences to the correct discipline is one of the most important issues in higher education.
This research reviewed a number of aptitude tests that are used in admission to universities. The use of serious games as a means of assessment of competencies and aptitudes of students applying for higher education is also explored In addition to reviewing frameworks for SGs development and clarified why GBA will benefit the admission process.
This research proposed a game based assessment framework and discussed its components and how they work together in addition to its potential users functional requirements.
An application on the information and communication technology focused on identifying set of competences needed for an applicant student to join an ICT academic domain. Those competencies as well as their interrelations were defined. In addition, a prototype has been contributed providing some interfaces of the prototype that constitutes the solution to clarify how this solution would be used.
This proposed solution is expected to provide the applicant with a more accurate measure of how matching are his/her skill set to the requirements of the higher education programs, as well as to assign the applicant to the best fitting academic program.
