المستخلص

The need to think is one of the most important requirements of mental cognitive building possessed by man .where, the thinking affects and Influences the various mental processes, such as cognition ,visualization and intelligence, which are considered as a necessity to adjust with the reality he lives in. Since the present reality is characterized by massive information development which contributed to the occurrence of information boom which led to the expansion of knowledge fields in all disciplines, the need to think is inevitable and indispensable. Hence, it is necessary to search for new means and methods that contribute to face the growing cognitive development as well as develop the learners ability to think, as one of the most important trends in teaching in general and the teaching of social studies in particular, to make students prepared with good thought and get a better chance to become successful. Visual thinking is one of the most thought patterns that should be taken care through social studies. This is because visual thinking is based on the stimulation of the mind with visual stimuli, which involve analysis of the situation, perception of relationships and formation of mental perceptions. Due to the nature of the subject, both learning and teaching it require the use of tools and resources such as maps, pictures, graphs, diagrams, figures and maps of thinking as well as concepts, which exceeds the traditional verbal learning suffered by students in the preparatory stage and all that emphasizes the method of memorization and Indoctrinating. Therefore, it was necessary to use other methods of teaching, which develops the student’s visual memory to make him aware of the phenomena around him in addition to the formation of a positive trend towards the process of learning in general and towards social studies in particular.
