Abstract The two-spotted mite, Tetranychus urticae is considered a key pest of ornamental plants. The objective of this study was to investigate the two-way interaction between ornamental host plants and T. urticae, the effect of A. wilkesiana,A. tricolor and D. erecta ornamental host plants on the developmental stages, fecundity, life table parameters, acceptance and suitability of T. urticae, also, the effect of T. urticae infestation on biochemical characteristics of the three ornamental plants was investigated.Toxicity, ovicidal, repellency and oviposition deterrence effects of Vertimec (1.8% EC) and ethanol, acetone and aqueous crude extractsof Nigella sativa, Chamomilla recutita and Thymus vulgaris were evaluated against T. urticae. |
