Abstract

Gravity separation technique has been used to upgrade the Egyptian low-grade phosphate ore (21.78 %) from western desert at Abu-Tartour plateau area as a physical separation technique to improve the concentrating of low-grade phosphate up to marketable grade (~30 % P2O5), Shaking table is a gravity separation device was used for separating phosphate ore with respect to the factors influencing effective mineral separation include particle size, density, and shape, riffle design, deck shape and slope, water flow, feed rate shaking motion, and speed. Prior to gravity separation experiments, the feed phosphate ore was prepared by washing and desliming to remove fine clay from ores, the phosphate concentrate under the optimum conditions (particle size was less than 100 mesh (150 μm) the optimal deck slope of shaking table was 10 degree, the optimal feed water flow rate was 8 liters per hour). The results show promise for the produced grades of 26.6 %– 33.1 % P2O5 to prepare single super phosphate and study the different factors which affecting the preparation of SSP by two different ways by changing only one factor at time (OFAT) with stabilized of the other factors, and by using the design of experiments (DoE) by using the multivariate 24 full factorial methodologies to study the effect of different parameters on the SSP production. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to determine the main effects and the interactions between the studied factors. In addition, using upgraded Abu- Tortour phosphate to preparetriple super phosphate and study the effect of different parameters on its production.
