Abstract

This study aimed to:
- Compare the incidence of postoperative pain following the use of
intracanal irradiation with the 980 nm Diode laser versus endodontic
surgery in cases of mature necrotic teeth with chronic periapical lesions.
- Compare the antimicrobial efficacy of intracanal irradiation with
980nm Diode laser and the conventional endodontic treatment using the
bacterial count test (CFUs)
- Compare the periapical healing between the enrolled two groups by
measuring the changes in periapical radiolucency’s size using CBCT
software imaging.
- Answer a clinical question whether the application of 980 nm Diode
laser after conventional root canal treatment of mature teeth with
chronic periapical lesions is an effective and reliable method
