Abstract There are several potential advantages to the new techniques approaches distinct from potential cosmetic benefits. Specifically, compared with conventional sternotomy, they have been associated with less CPB time, cross clamp time, blood transfusions required, decreased length of stay, less postoperative pain, less pain medication usage, and a faster return to normal activity. Up till now, no studies proved distinct advantage of one technique over the other in relation to risk of complications, but what is proved is that the new strategies are better compared to the conventional approach under the condition of the presence of well-equipped place and well trained personnel. |
