Abstract Cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii is a serious pest having an extensive host range. In addition to its ability of transmission of nearly 75 plant viruses, cotton aphid sucking sap from the plant causing chlorotic and death of the foilage prematurely. Moreover, they secrete a large amount of honeydew that provides a rich media for growth of sooty mold and disruption of the entire plant. The risk of Aphis gossypii can be minimized by using of chemical pesticides. As a result of excessive use of chemical insecticides, some problems such as reduction of beneficial organisms, environmental pollution, hazards to humans, building up of pest resistance and upsetting natural balance were appeared. Therefore, this study aimed to replace the unsafe and undesirable chemical control by other effective, relatively safe and applied control options via using fungal metabolites. Conclusion, from the previous results, Cladosporium cladosporiodes and Paecilomyces lilacinus possessed strong effects on the morphological and biochemical parameter of Aphis gossypii. For that, the fungal metabolites was recommended as promising biopesticides for controlling Aphis gossypii. |
