Abstract As population is increasing rapidly all over the world, the need for using systematic approach in also increasing. We focus on medical products that must be delivered with many time limit constraints. Also, these products have lifetime and must be delivered without any time limit constraint violation. We proposed a flexible systematic approach to be able to solve vehicle routing problem with new time limit constraints that haven’t been solved yet. Regenerating alternative paths in case of accidents or heavy traffic. Adding new features of supporting urgent requests like blood transfer to hospitals. Adding also, new factor representing customer satisfaction. Geographic Information System (GIS) is used for localizing customers’ destinations. Then, Origin Destination Cost Matrix (OD Cost Matrix) is used for calculating the least cost depot for every customer. Finally, network analyst is used for solving the routing problem and calculating the suitable time for drivers break. This case study is applied on random selected region in Masnoura city in Egypt with 105 streets and 173 split lines. We used different 3 types of vehicles with different characteristics. |
