Abstract Pervious concrete is a form of lightweight porous concrete. Pervious concrete consists of same conventional concrete materials but with no fine or with small percentage of fine aggregate. There are many advantages of this type of concrete like lower density, cost, thermal conductivity and lower drying shrinkage compared to conventional concrete in addition to its high permeability. Pervious concrete is a friendly environmentally paving material that has been widely used in parking lots as well as low speed and low volume pavements. The properties of pervious concretes containing recycled concrete aggregate were presented in this research. The considered percentages of recycled aggregates replacement were 50% and 100% by weight of natural coarse aggregate. The effect of aggregate size was studied. The considered aggregate size were 9.5mm and 19mm.In addition, the effect of using either crumb or fiber rubber, polypropylene fiber, silica fume and styrene but adiene latex were investigated. The properties of pervious concrete was investigated through permeability indices (water permeability, density, voids ratio) and strength indices (compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength and pervious concrete degradation). from the test results, increase recycled aggregate level show significant increases in pervious concrete permeability and voids ratio. The addition of silica fume increases the compressive strength significantly compared with pervious concrete without silica fume. The use of polypropylene fiber in pervious concrete shows clearly significant increases in splitting tensile strength and flexural strength. |
