Abstract The frontal sinus drainage pathways and frontal recess is the space into which the frontal sinus drains. This space is usually occupied by a number of cells that affect the direction and position of this drainage pathway. Many anatomical structures are affecting Frontal recess and thereby influencing its drainage, these structures are agger nasi Cell (ANC), superior insertion of uncinate process (SAIUP), bulla ethmoidalis (BE) and middle turbinate lamellae. There have been many classification systems proposed for identification of the different cells in this area. A classification system that addresses both the number and position of the cells as well as how these cells affect the frontal drainage pathway will help in the understanding of surgical anatomy and endoscopic surgical approaches. The aim of the study is to evaluate the most applicable radiological computed tomographic scan software in analysis of air cells related to the frontal sinus drainage pathway. This study also aimed to analyze the present four published classifications of the frontal sinus drainage pathway cells using the best chosen DICOM viewer software. Results show that MBKC classification has the highest interrater agreement followed by IFAC classification. And as regarding the best software is “Synedra” which has the highest assessment score according to specific ten radiological parameters. |
