Abstract
Introduction:Trauma is a major health problem worldwide ,shock index can be used in early diagnosis of shock and predict mortality .The aim of work: to study the value of shock index as a morality predictor in polytrauma patients in Mansoura Emergency Hospital. Research Plan:. It was done on 200 polytrauma patients where every patient was subjected to resuscitation, general and local examination, AMPLE history, estimation of shock index at time of patient admission ,after 6 hours and after another6 hours, estimation of mortality. Results: there was statistically significant relationship between Shock index <0.9 and mortality. Conclusion:. Shock index that which is the ratio of the heart rate and the systolic blood pressure is very easy, valuable and simple predictor of outcome in poly trauma patients
