Abstract The high speed pattern of driving, and the increase rate of interpersonal violence as well as the rapid changes in society are responsible for rapid increase in number of traumatic cases and recent changes of pattern of facial fractures. Inappropriate management of mandibular fracture may lead to severe complications, and so it is necessary to reach early and correct diagnosis. A variety of imaging modalities are used for the diagnosis of mandibular fractures, including standard radiography, panoramic views, computed tomography( CT ), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Multislice computed tomography replaced conventional radiographs and stand out as the gold standard for assessment of mandibular trauma This study aimed to demonstrate multislice computed tomography value in evaluating different mandibular traumatic fracture This study was conducted in the period from January 2016 to November 2016 at emergency department of Shebin El Kom Teaching Hospital. All patients were referred from the emergency unit of Shebin El Kom Teaching Hospital complaining with facial trauma with suspected mandibular fractures. Thirty Patients (26 male and 4 female) with positive mandibular CT findings were selected in the study. All patients subjected to full clinical history, general and local examination followed by CT scanning following CT face protocol using A 4-row MSCT scanner. |
