Abstract

In Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, there are two species of land snails known as brown garden snail, Eobania vermiculata Muller and the glassy clover snail, Monacha cartusiana Muller. These snails are destructive agricultural pests causing economic damage to a wide variety of plants including horticulture, field crops and vegetables. Adult snails of Monacha cartusiana were collected from fields cultivated with Egyptian clover at Alqurien city, Abou Hammad district, Sharkia Governorate, while adult snails of Eobania vermiculata were collected from orchard fields at Moshtohor village, Toukh district, Kalubia Governorate. These snails were used on this study to compare between them on their biochemical constitute contents, enzymes activities, and element concentration in their shell. The toxic effect of some chemical compounds, Copper sulfate, Ammoniume sulfate, sodium salicylate ,Acetic acid and Salicylic acid on the two land snails were determined on the laboratory .It revealed that Copper sulfate was the most toxic compound against the two land snails .The LC50 and LC90 were recoded after three days of exposure. Moreover the mortality percentages increased by increasing the dose and the time of exposure. At the field four chemical compounds, Copper sulfate, Ammoniumesulfate, Acetic acid and salicylic acid were used against Monacha Cartusiana with spraying technique. On the other hand after three days of treatment with LC50 as spraying technique biochemical constitutes, total protein, total lipids, total carbohydrate, Urea contents and the activity of enzymes, ALT, AST, GST, phenol oxidaseand MDA were evaluated on the two land snails
