Abstract

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of seasonal variation of the antibacterial activity of some seaweed against the bacterial isolates which caused the urinary tract infection (UTI) disease and analysis of its virulence factors genes in order to genetically compare the virulence activities of these UTI isolates. Pathogenic urinary tract infection bacterial isolates were collected from urinary tract infected patients at Tanta university hospitals, Department of Urology, after morphological and biochemical investigation the bacterial isolates were classified into 3 groups of bacteria including Escherichia sp., Klebsiella sp. and Proteus sp. (Gram-negative bacteria) which were the main cause of urinary tract infection (UTI). The resistant isolates were Escherichia no.1 and Klebsiella no. 12 both of (87%) and Proteus sp. no. 21 (100%). Biomerieux VITEK® 2 system test results showed that these three bacterial isolates were Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae with a
probability percentage of 97% for both of them and Proteus mirabilis with
probability percentage of 99%.
