Abstract

This study was carried out on 150 one day- old broiler chicks to evaluate the effect of adding probiotic and synbiotic in drinking water of healthy broilers and challenged by E.coli (O78) at 3 weeks old. The results revealed appearance of clinical signs, mortality rate, post mortem changes in group challenged with E. coli and these results were appeared in histopathological examined samples. Also, in case of growth performance, there were increase in body weight and body weight gain with low FCR in probiotic and synbiotic treated groups before and after infection. Hematological results revealed normocytic normochromic anemia in group challenged with E. coli. Biochemical results revealed decrease in glucose and albumin with an increase in ALT and AST, cholesterol and triglycerides group challenged with E. coli. While, probiotic and synbiotic treated groups showed an increase in serum albumin and globulin with a decrease in cholesterol and triglycerides before and after infection.
