Abstract

The aim of the study is to compare analgesic effects of a single low dose of intrathecal tramadol and intrathecal fentanyl with hyperbaric bupivacaine hydrochloride.
The present study was performed in the department of anesthesiology in Suez Canal University and Port Said general hospitals, and in this prospective double controlled randomized study, 52 full term pregnant undergoing cesarean section were enrolled, they were divided randomly into two equal groups, the first group received intrathecal 0.5% hyperbaric bupivacaine 2 mL plus tramadol hydrochloride 20 mg (0.4 mL), the second group received intrathecal 0.5% hyperbaric bupivacaine 2 mL plus fentanyl 20 µg (0.4 mL).
