Abstract Postoperative children are at risk of clinical deterioration, and it i vital that this risk will be contro Patients often show signs o clinicdeterioration for up to 24 hours prior theoccurrence of a serious clinical event requiring an intensive intervention. Delays in treatment or inadequate care of patients in general hospital wards may result in increased admissions to the intensive care unit (ICU), incr length of hospitalization, cardiac arrest and may be incidenceocardiopulmonaryarrest (CPA) in hospitalized children is 0.7-3% and the mortality 11-37%. Meanwhile morbidity remains is high despite of advances in resuscitation training, technology and treatment .Therefore, nurses working in pediatric surgical units must monitor assesspostoperative children closely through ca monitoring of changes in physiologic condition by utilizing indicatorsandriskassessment tools to detec anydeterioration itheir conditio and plan releva postoperative care. |
