Abstract

Stratigraphy and bivalve fauna of the Eocene succession of the Maghagha area, east and west of the Nile Valley, Egypt Abstract Six sections are studied in the area. Five sections are located on the eastern side of the Nile Valley; ElSheikh Fadl Butte, Gebel ElMehasham, South Gebel ElMehasham, Gebel ElMereir and Gebel Qarara. On the western side, Mingar Shinnara section. These studied sections comprise four formations namely, Muweilih, Midawara, Sath ElHadid and ElGharaq formations. The first three crops out in the eastern side of the Nile Valley, whereas the last three appear in the western side.
