Abstract

The present thesis discussed important environmental phenomenon, i.e. Nile River level change over the year and its influence on the concentration of chemical and biological agents of water which give negative or positive impact on the cement industry, due to the use of some cement plants the Nile water for the industrial purposes.
Chapter (1)
It includes an introduction to water pollution in the Nile River and the importance of the Nile River for many States, including Egypt. It also includes an overview of cement production industry in Egypt and the number of factories located until recently in Egypt and that the cement industry in constant growth, as well as dealing with an overview of the installation of cement and its components. It also contains the references which are used for this chapter.
Chapter (2)
This chapter comprises a literature review from many authors. It is a scientific cover to the previous research that talks about the Nile River and water quality, relevance and sources of contamination as well as the reasons for the fluctuation of the Nile River level throughout the year as a result of the fall of the monsoon rains. This chapter also addressed the effect of water pollution, which is accompanied by an increase in the chemical and biological agents in the cement industry. It also contains the references which are used in this chapter.
Chapter (3)
This chapter described the impact of the fluctuation of Nile River level during the year on water composition. The chapter studies the analysis of Nile water at four periods, the Nile River classified to four periods according to level. The periods are flood period, intermediated period, drought periods and intermediate periods. The analysis showed that the fluctuation of Nile had a significant impact on its biological nature rather than chemical nature. It could be argued that this is due to the algae could absorb the chemical elements. The chapter contains a general introduction, the sampling area, the analysis methods, the discussion of the results, conclusion and finally the reference.
Chapter (4)
This chapter described the impact of the fluctuation of Nile River level in the cement industry after treating the Nile water by the sand filter. The analysis showed that the compressive strength of cement decreased in drought period, but the strength was improved at flood period. The decreasing refers to the high concentration of algae in Nile water at drought period. The chapter contains a general introduction, the sampling area, the analysis methods, the discussion of the results, conclusion and finally the reference.
Chapter (5)
This chapter described some trial for choosing the best water type for cooling the clinker. The comparison was mad between three water types treated Nile, ground and de-ionized water. The analysis showed that the best water for cooling the clinker is de-ionized water the ground water. The difference depends on the concentration of algae in the water. When algae concentration increased the cement compressive strength will decrease and vice versa. The algae do prevents the complete crystallization of calcium silicate for clinker. The chapter contains a general introduction, the sampling area, the analysis methods, the discussion of the results, conclusion and finally the reference.
Chapter (6)
The chapter gives the conclusion and recommendation related to the thesis.
