Abstract The improvement of a low-cost technology for multipurpose water treatment in the industry is studied, using microbubbles,a novel scheme of water-air interaction within a specially designed microbubble generator is tested. Its efficiency for the production of microbubbles with a size distribution in the micron range is confirmed. The basic elements of the microbubble generator are a swirl generator and coanda flow at the edge of an exit nozzle, while the air is introduced perpendicular to a highly turbulent swirling flow of water in axial direction through the swirled vane, located on the acrylic tube axis. Bubble diameters, consumed pump power, and effect of the air pressure on the bubble size distribution are studied for various coanda radius, water flowrates, and air flowrates. |
