Abstract Two experimental fields were carried out at private farm in Wadi El Natrun District, Al Behaira Governorate (30.484 N latitude and 30.497 E longitude) during the two successive seasons 2013-14 and 2014-15. This study aimed to investigate the effect of deficit irrigation levels and boron fertilization rates on yield and quality of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) grown under conditions of center pivot and fixed sprinkler irrigation systems. The obtained results of the present investigation can be summarized as follows : 1.Modern irriga tion techniques (center pivot and fixed sprinkler) had significantly affected growth, yield and quality of sugar beet. 2.The different deficit irrigation levels had significant impacts on growth and yield characteristics of sugar beet crop. 3.Boron fertilization rates had affected significantly the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of sugar beet yield. 4.All previous factors had enhanced the WUE values of sugar beet. Finally, it can be recommended that applying boron fertilization in rate of 1.5 g B L-1 as foliar application with irrigating at the deficit level of 80% from irrigation water requirements under center pivot irrigation system increase sugar beet yield, its quality and water use efficiency. |
