Abstract The present work was designed to evaluate the possible therapeutic role of intravenous administration of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) against CCL4-induced hepatotoxic changes of adult male albino rat. Eighty adult male albino rats were used in this study. The animals were divided into eight groups, 10 rats each. group I (normal control) was not subjected to any manipulations; group II (sham control) injected intravenously once with one ml of isotonic saline and cervical decapitation was done after 12 weeks in group I and group II ; group III and group IV were injected subcutaneously with CCl4 (0.2 ml/kg body weight) twice weekly for four weeks and cervical decapitation was done after four weeks in group III , eight weeks in groups IV ; group V received a similar dose of CCl4 twice weekly for four weeks followed by a single intravenous injection of MSC (1x106 MSC labeled with PKH26 dye in 1 ml phosphate buffer saline )into the tail vein 24 hours after the last dose of CCL4 and cervical decapitation was done after eight weeks; group VI and group VII received a similar dose of CCl4 twice weekly for eight weeks and cervical decapitation was done after eight weeks in group VI , 12 weeks in group VII and group VIII received the same dose of CCl4 twice weekly for eight weeks followed by a single intravenous injection of the same dose of MSC 24 hours after the last injection of CCL4 and cervical decapitation was done after 12 weeks |
