Abstract This study was carried out to propagate six species of rare old trees existed in the Antoniadis Garden and the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University via stem cuttings and air layering. These six species were African Fern Pine (Podocarpus sp.), Candle tree (Parmentiera cereifera Seem), Norfolk Island hibiscus (Lagunaria patersonii L.), Osage orange (Maclura pomifera (Raf.) Schneid), variegated Clown fig, Mosaic fig (Ficus aspera G. Forst.), and Holm oak, or Holly oak (Quercus ilex L.). As for the cuttings experiment, it was started in 20th February 2013 and repeated in 20th February 2014. The cuttings experiment was carried out to study the effect of cutting type and wounding, K-IBA hormone concentrations and the interaction between/among them. |
