The total cultivated area of cowpea during 2016 reach about 11‚3 milion ha with yield about 5053 hg/ha with total production exceeded about 5‚7 ton in the world The total planted area in Egypt was 2000 feddan with yield of about 35000 hg/ha with production of about 7000 tons. In Egypt the soil and water sources is very limited and there is shortage in production of forage summer crops. So, we cultivate forage in new reclaimed soils and irrigated was saline water. Cowpea may produce large amount of biomass in summer season. |
