Abstract The work involved in this thesis has been done with the objective and the target of searching for naturally occurring active constituents possessing potential biological activities in the Egyptian Flora. Through this study useful information was derived from the application of different techniques of chromatography (column, paper, thin layer chromatography, Biotage purification system) and spectral measurements including 1H, 13C-NMR and 2D NMR on Bruker Avance 600 instrument in addition to other machines including ADP410 polarimeter, Waters Acquity UPLC-MS (for LRMS determination), Agilent 1200 HPLC-SPE-HRMS & Bruker solarix XR7T ESI/MALDI-FT-ICR mass spectrometer (for HRMS determination), Bruker D8 Venture diffractometer (for X-ray analysis) and 14C accelerator mass spectrometry (for 14C AMS analysis). Therefore, the present research mainly covers the phytochemical and pharmacological studies of the aerial parts of the two plants; Taverniera aegyptiaca and Seidlitzia rosmarinus. It included three parts in addition to English summary, references and Arabic summary. The first plant Taverniera aegyptiaca Boiss. has a vernacular name; Dahasir and no synonyms are recorded for this plant. It grows wild in the Red Sea coast from the side of Gulf of Suez (Qusair – Marsa Alam road, approximately 47 km- Qusair), Egypt. The second plant Seidlitzia rosmarinus Bunge ex Boiss. has a vernacular name; Duwwayd, Eshinan and has two synonyms; Salsola rosmarinus Bunge ex Boiss. Eig, Suaeda rosmarinus Ehrenb. ex Boiss. It grows wild in the Red Sea coast, South Sinai at Golf of Aqaba (Nuweiba – Taba road, approximately 12 km- Nuweiba), Egypt. |
