Abstract Osteonecrosis of the hip is a disease that generally affects patients in the third to fifth decades of life and therefore has significant impact on the work and leisure activities of these patients.it seems to develop as a result of a multifactorial process rather than one precipitating event they include corticosteroid administration, excessive alcohol use, hemoglobinopathies, and decompression disease. A magnetic resonance image (MRI), is the key that detects avascular necrosis of the femoral head at its earliest stages. The goal of therapy is to preserve the hip joint for as long as possible. There are four main therapeutic options:Conservative management, Core decompression with or without bone-grafting ,Osteotomy &Total hip replacement. |
