Abstract Brain Dmage-Treatment with Cerebrolysin significantly improved neurological deficit, infarct volume, brain edema, Evans blue extravasation, AGEs, molandialdehyde (MDA) and expression of arginase enzymes (I&II), iNos, TNF-α and IL-1β as well as increased expression of eNOS. Recommendations: Delay should be avoided in the treatment of diabetes as it can stimulate vascular and CNS complications. The study suggests Arginase inhibitors as a novel therapeutic target for protection against CNS complications associated with diabetes. The administration of Arginase inhibitors as adjuvant therapy along with standard antidiabetic medication is recommended as they may slow the progression of diabetic CNS complications. Arginase inhibitors are a promising way to treat ischemic stroke in animal and need to take place in clinical studies. |
