Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted during the two successive summer seasons
2012 and 2013 under lsmailia Governorate conditions, Egypt to evaluate the effect of
varieties, phosphorus levels (0, 15.5, 23.25 and 31 kg P20s/fad) and inoculation with
Phosphorein or Microbein biofertilizer on growth characters, yield and yield attributes of
groundnuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) in a sandy soil. Plant height, dry weight of leaves per
plant, dry weight of whole plant, leaf area, leaf area index ,chlorophyll content of leaves,
number of pods per plant, number of seeds/plant, 100- seed weight, Shelling percentage,
pod yield per fad (in kg), straw yield per fad (in kg), seed oil content (%) and seed protein
content (%) were studied. The results indicated that Gereogry cultivar surpassed Giza-6
cultivar in No. of pods/plant, No. of seeds/plant, weight of pods, weight of seeds/plant,
J OO-seed weight, shelling percentage, seed oil and protein contents (%), All studied
characters were increased by increasing super phosphate fertilization rates up to 200 kg
P20s/fad. There were no significant differences between J 50 and 200 kg super phosphate
/fad for the studied traits in general. Most of the aforementioned characters increased
significantly when the three phosphorus levels were added in combination with two
inoculants, compared to phosphorus levels alone.
