Abstract

The Study Objectives:
- The study aims to or intended to investigate tattoos history and purposes in Islamic period.
- To shed light on tattoo as an inherited cultural heritage
- To analyze the real different functions of Tattoo.
- To illustrates a variety of tattoo designs and their cultural and religious significance to people through the long history of Egypt from the earliest periods of ancient Egyptian civilization into the Islamic.
- To compare between Tattoo in Islamic period in Egypt and tattoo in ancient Egypt.
- To classify different types of tattoo arts across different eras, as well as within the customs and traditions of Egyptians who used tattoos in various expressive forms associated with their beliefs, whether religious or social, with the purpose of giving learners the opportunity to identify new sources that will help them identify multiple types of Egyptian heritage and traditions in the past Pharaonic, christian, and Islamic eras.
- Lastly, it discusses some Islamic view towards some folk arts within cultural and religious background of and discusses also the ideas of tattooing as an article for social classifying population according to their work in Egypt.
Difficulties:
The researcher faced some difficulties in the course of conducting this thesis. In one hand, museum Collection didn’t provide enough material culture that might support the subject of the study during the investigated period.In the other hand, skin does not ordinarily survive in the archaeological context, with the exception of a certain unique preservation techniques (the mummies of ancient Egypt). The studies of the historians and modern travelers provided great assistance to the study.
The Study divided into the following:
Introduction, three chapters and ended with the conclusion.
Chapter One: It provides a study about Egyptian folk Cultural Heritage in addition to The significance of tattooing in a heavenly religion context [Islam, christianity, and Judaism] and in other ancient religions and finally modern tattoo. Human tattoo units associated with customs and traditions, The Stance of Islam on Human Iconography, Scientists at the rule of photography of animate beings are parties and the center
Chapter Two entitled the Islamic Egyptian Tattoo, Equipment and Samples of Tattoo in Islamic Period and Comparative between decorative tattoo in Egypt and India during the Islamic Age and finally the origin of Similarities of tattoo in Ancient Egypt & tattoo in Islamic period.
Chapter Three: it dealt with use of tattoo in Islamic Egypt as an Indicator of Cultural Heritage of Ancient Egypt and themes and aims of Tattoo inherited from the ancient Egyptian civilization, how tattooing technique influenced the production of Islamic artifacts’
This chapter discusses the different formats of applied Cultural arts such as woodwork, metalwork, and weaving mats; and the relationship between them and the Cultural beliefs that influenced these arts in the past and are still influencing them today.
It also discussed poetic culture, singing, and methods of entertainment and amusement, such as puppeteers, picture boxes, and shadow play. It also mentions some cultural proverbs and the meanings they hold, as well as their influence on moral behaviors. It concludes with the mention of the markets of these cultural arts, the craftsmen who work in them, and the methods to be used to revive this heritage.
