Abstract Amany Sayed Abdel-Aal. ”Teaching colloquial Spanish in the classroom of spanish as a foreign language for egyptian students through audio-visual resources.” master’s Thesis. Ain-Shams University, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Department of Spanish, 2016. The main idea of this study is ”the colloquial Spanish” which was much discussed, for its importance, in doctoral theses, in researches and in scientific conferences of various associations. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of learning colloquialisms for students of Spanish as a foreign language, as it is daily language between friends, family and coworkers. It is also important to know the culture of the country of the target language to communicate with native speakers. This study seeks essentially to develop a didactic approach based on creating activities to teach Spanish colloquial for egyptians studying Spanish as a foreign language. These activities encourage students to participate in class, they also help them to understand several words and expressions in a real context through audio-visual aids like series, advertisements, etc. The study addresses the issue of clarifying the difference between colloquial and vulgar and demonstrate the elements of colloquial Spanish: idiomatic expressions, proverbs, sayings and the double. In addition to highlighting the role of the teacher in the teaching of Spanish colloquial, the role of resources and teaching materials, provide some practical ideas that can be applied in the classroom and to train students to communicate fluently in different situations. To reach a beneficial and well prepared teaching proposal, we analyze some didactic manuals (level B1-B2), we conducted a survey to detect the opinion of students of different levels, learning Spanish colloquial, what are the difficulties they face in learning it. Therefore, the analytical-descriptive method is used (in the analysis of teaching manuals, especially activities related to the colloquial Spanish) and the introspective method and the transverse (to make the questionnaire). Based on the results, we have developed an educational proposal that aims to improve the level of students and their communication skills, create interactive activities and tasks through which students can practice the words and colloquialisms differently.
