Abstract

This investigation aims to study the effect of Compost treatments, sulfur fertilization S0: control without sulfur fertilization . S1: with sulfur fertilization 10kg S fed-1 , S2: with sulfur fertilization (20 kg S fed-1), S3: with sulfur fertilization 40 kg S fed-1 , inorganic zinc fertilization application and their interactions on the growth, nutrients uptake of rice plants Oryza sativa, L . and rice grains quantity. Two field trials were conducted at El-Serw Agricultural Research Station, Damietta Governorate during the two summer growing seasons of 2014 and 2015. Split split Plot design with four replications was conducted to study the effect of using organic manure as compost treatment the main plots Without Compost and Compost 20m3/fed of mature compost , the different levels of sulfur fertilization S0: control without sulfur fertilization ,S1: with sulfur fertilization 10 kg S fed-1 ,S2: with sulfur fertilization 20 kg S fed-1 ,S3: with sulfur fertilization 40 kg S fed-1 the sub plots and mineral zinc fertilizer levels the sub subplots 4, 8 and 16 kg zn/fed on rice growth, nutrients uptake and grain quantity.Soil samples of each experiment were taken from depths 0-30, 30-60 and 60 - 90cm, respectively and analyzed to investigate some physical and chemical properties.Soil analysis was determined also, at the end of each experiment for determining pH value, organic matter percentage, and available nutrients (N, P, K).Five hills of rice plant were taken at random from each plot to estimate the growth parameters. Yield and yield components were recorded for rice plant at harvest stage. Oven-dried rice plant samples were digested and analyzed to determine concentrations of N, P and K at booting and harvest stages as well as N-P-K-uptake in grains and straw at harvest stage. The obtained results were analyzed statistically. The results obtained were statically analyzed and could be summarized as follows:It could be concluded that preferably add mineral zinc and elemental sulfur fertilization with organic fertilizer to produce high rice crop under saline soil conditions in North Delta of Egypt.
