Abstract Diatoms are large unique group of unicellular microalgae that play critical roles in our planet ecosystems for a long time. They are found in most aqueous environments and have significant ornamented cell wall made of hydrated silica, which called ”frustule”. Diatom frustules have taxonomic value, as each genus and species has distinct architectures. Their ornamented siliceous shells composed of multi-layer structure with multi-scale porosity, which can be used as an alternative source to obtain nanofabricated structures. The present study is one step forward through a long road seeking for new nanofabrication techniques that are economically more effective and have large flexibility. |
