Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Educational Farm, Fac. Agric., Minia Univ., Egypt, during two successive summary seasons of 2013 and 2014 to study the response of four soybean cultivars i.e., Giza 21, Giza 35, Giza 111 and Giza 22 to bacterial inoculation (Bradyrhizobium japonicum) combined with N fertilizer.
The experimental design was Randomized Complete Blocks in split-plot arrangement in both seasons. The main-plots were assigned to cultivars and the sub-plots were allocated to bacterial inoculation combined with N fertilization.
The most important results could be summarized as follows:
1 – Growth characters and nodulation:
The analysis of variance showed significant differences among studied cultivars for plant height, plant branch number, dry weight/plant, leaf area/plant, leaf area index, number and dry weight of nodules/plant at ages 45 and 60 days in 2013 and 2014 seasons except plant branch number and nodules dry weight/plant at 60 days age in 2013 season and number of branches and nodules/plant at 45 and 60 days ages in 2014.
