Abstract This study was carried out during 2013 and 2014 summer season at Experimental farm, Faculty of Agricultural, El-Minia University. The main objectives of this study were: Evaluate performance of some maize genotypes and their crosses under drought conditions and determined their ability for general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects, also determined heterosis and elucidate the validity of base testers. Results showed that the investigated genotypes recorded highly significant mean squares. On the other hand parents recorded variable GCA. Also the resulted crosses recorded variable SCA. Cluster analysis was performed to grouped genotypes into 3 groupes and 3 ungrouped. group B from cluster analysis included promising crosses for drought tolerance which showed variable GCA effects. However, the parental lines possessed variable SCA effects. |
