Abstract

This thesis aims to power quality improvement of a wind turbine DFIG in maximum power point tracking (MPPT) mode during transient grid voltage unbalance based on direct power control (DPC). A simple MPPT algorithm is proposed to reference power in terms of generator speed. The paper describes calculation method of reference of instantaneous rotor side converter (RSC) of DFIG connected to unbalanced power grid on the basis of DPC to eliminate the electromagnetic torque oscillations at double supply frequency. The rotor voltage references estimation requires only simple calculations without any integral operation. Also, this thesis aims to the optimal planning and efficient wind park layout on a given area of land interconnected with electric utility (EU) involve several complex optimization problems. Multi-objective functions based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique for optimal design and optimal layout of Zafarana site farm are presented.
