Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem which has reached epidemic proportions due to the rapidly increasing rates of this disease worldwide. Target organ complications, secondary to diabetes, will be one of the most important medical concerns of the coming decades. clear example is peripheral artery disease (PAD) Which result from Plaque formation in the arteries of the legs, arms, and/or pelvis . The most common presenting symptom of peripheral artery disease (PAD) is intermittent claudication (IC), with exercise-induced pain experienced in the calves, thighs or buttocks that is relieved with rest or it may be asymptomatic until it reaches an advanced stage. Diabetic peripheral arterial disease is the main cause of lower limb amputation in patients with diabetes as atherosclerosis is a progressive chronic inflammatory condition occurring in the walls of arteries, characterized by the formation of arterial lesions or plaques as a result of an inflammatory response to endothelial injury.
