Abstract Estimation of risk factors for anastomotic leak showed that : Age is significant risk factor in both groups Male gender is a risk factor in anastomosis with no stoma group. Risk of leak increased with ASA score in stoma group. Smoking is a risk factor for anastomosis with no stoma group . Risk of leak is not affected by BMI or type of emergency presentation . Apparent stoma complication occurred in 30% of all stoma patients. Anastomosis leak affected 25% in non-stoma group and 20% of stoma group, provided all patients of both groups have CLS ≤ 11. |
