Abstract

The purpose of the present study was carried out to assess the validity of using hollow type versus solid type immediate screw implants in hemisected mandibular molars in the management of perio-endo lesion in addition to augment the extracted root space by β-TCP , both clinically and radiographically. Tewenty patients aged 20-40 years suffered from perio-endo lesion class I or II were included in this study The patients attended the followup recall till the end of the study period (18 months). The patients classified into 2 groups (10 patients each) according to the selected treatment modality for the mandibular molars where one of the roots was resected due to perio-endo lesion during the study : Group (A): The mandibular perio-endo lesion was treated by RCT followed by tooth hemisection. Immediate hollow screw implant (Tut) was placed in the socket of the resected root and the synthetic bone graft Cerasorb used to augment the space of extracted area around the implant. Two porcelain crowns fused together were placed on the retained half of the tooth and implant after 4 months from implant placement.
