Abstract

Bacterial diseases affecting marine fishes are numerous and they cause high economic losses in marine culture sector in Egypt, therefore; this study was conducted for two main goals; Isolation and identification of the bacterial isolates affecting cultured marine fishes in Egypt as well as studying the relationship between heavy metal concentrations in water and fish tissues with the incidence of these bacterial diseases. In our study a total number of 100 cage-cultured and 100 earthen pond cultured marine fishes of different body weight range (80 g to 450 gm. in sea bass and 250 g to 300 gm. in sea bream) were collected; 100 (50/ each kind of cultured) seabass (Dicentrarchuslabrax L.), 100 (50/ each kind of cultured) of seabream (Sparusaurata L.). Fishes were collected showing clinical signs from private fish farm at Wadi-Mariut region at west Alexandria and Damietta governorates, Egypt. recording the clinical signs and P.M lesions associated with such causative agents of diseases in naturally infected fishes; serotyping of these bacterial isolated bacteria from naturally infected fishes; Listing the prevalence of the identified bacterial isolates among the above mentioned diseased fishes; measurements of some immune parameters as (phagocytic activity and phagocytic index, serum total protein, serum albumin, serum globulin, serum albumin / globulin ratio, (s.AST), (S.ALT) , serum bactericidal activity , serum lysozyme activity and Nitric Oxide assay , in diseased as well as in apparently healthy one; mycological and bacteriological examination of water samples used for rearing of these fishes; monitoring of some heavy metal concentrations in both fish tissues and water of earthen ponds and cages at Wadi-mariout and Domitte area in which fish reared in relation to the prevalence of bacterial diseases; histopathological studies in different affected organs and sensitivity test of most isolated bacterial strains. In addition to, two hundreds pieces of shrimp tissue samples were collected during growout stages from both Alexandria and Domitte region with average body weight range (4.7±1.2 to 22.2±5.2g. gm.). The predilection site for different microbiological assessments (Mycological and bacteriological) of shrimp samples were hepatopancreas. The immune parameters measurements in shrimp revealed that, the different parameters of immunity in shrimp (phenoloxidase activity, respiratory burst activity, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and phagocytic activity %) were decreased in diseased shrimp when compared to the apparently healthy shrimp. The sensitivity test of different bacterial isolates to different antimicrobial revealed that the ciprofloxacin is the most effrectiveantibiotics to different isolated bacteria. Heavy metal concentrations and pathology of intestine of Fenneropenaeus indicus were also studied.
