Abstract This work characterize the laser sputtering of pure gold ’and depositing thin films on glass substrate heated to 200e. We used three types of laser, 1- Nd-YAG laser after doubling its frequency by passing it in a second harmonic crystal, to produce laser pulses at 532nm wavelength, and 8 ns pulse time duration. 2- Picosecond laser at 800nm wavelength, 200 ps pulse time duration. 3- Femtosecond laser at 800nm wavelength, 40 fs pulse time duration. These thin films studied by SEM, AFM, EDX, the results showed formation of gold particles in these cases, but in the case of femtosecond it was formed in more symmetric manner than that with other lasers and its density increased by increasing femtosecond laser power. We used also excimer laser at 3mJ pulse energy to heat gold surface in vacuum, and designed a home made software using VC++6 to calculate surface temperature assuming the presence of thermoionic emission. |
