Abstract The liver is one of the vital organs in the body. CCl4 is a highly toxic material on the liver cells. Eighteen dogs were used in this study which classified into induction (16 week) and treatment phases (16-30 week). Induction phase: Induction of liver cirrhosis was by orally administration of CCl4 for 16 weeks. Treatment phase: placebo group (9 dogs) was injected with 3 ml of sterile saline at the end of 16 and 18 weeks in the portal vein while the second group (group-II) was injected with 3 ml of 6X106 HD-MSCs in the portal vein at the end of the 16 and 18 week, then the dogs of both groups humanely euthanized at the 30 week. Along the study, all dogs were evaluated through the assessments of physical and clinical, laboratory tests, ultrasonographic with estimation of the diameter of the PV and HV, histopathological, postmortem and finally PCR. In group-I, liver cirrhosis did not improved till the end of the study while group –II showed marked improvement of dog’s health that verified by marked improvement of all the assessments parameters so we can conclude that the HD-MSCs had a major role for improvement of liver cirrhosis. |
