Abstract The present thesis includes preparation, characterization and studying the structural changes of two prepared systems. The first system concern: ”Influence of Silver chloride (AgCl) on structural, optical, thermal and electrical properties of the PVA/PEO blend” ” also the second system for: ”Effect of Silver bromide on the structural, optical, thermal and electrical properties of PVA/PEO blend” .These films have been prepared by casting technique, while different techniques have been used to investigate both systems: Experimental studies such as, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) for structural investigation , Ultraviolet and visible (UV/Vis.) spectroscopy for optical properties, Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for thermal properties, DC conductivity for electrical properties, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for surface morphology detections, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for size and distribution of the nanoparticles. All previously mentioned results suggest that AgBr improve the optical and electrical properties of polymer blend (PVA/PEO) more than AgCl. However, AgCl improve the thermal properties of polymer blend (PVA/PEO) more than AgBr. All the changes in the measured physical properties may be attributed the difference in interaction between polymer blend and AgCl or AgBr. |
