Abstract Conflict is a new form of opposition focused on the adversaries, based on the Incompatibility of purposes, intentions and values of the opponent parties. Conflict management is essential to solve the problems raised by conflict and to overcome the negative impacts of conflict. Adolescents can get more advantage, if they know how to handle conflict in a proper way. The aim of the study is to assess conflict resolution behaviors used by addict adolescents and assess correlates to Conflict resolution behaviors among addict adolescence. A descriptive correlational design was utilized in the current study. A sample of convenience of 150 addict adolescent who were attending to the outpatient clinic in Kasr AL Aini psychiatric and addiction hospital. Five tools were utilized in the current study including Socio-demographic characteristics and drug abuse history, Symptom check list (SCL- 90), Conflict resolution behaviors Questionnaire, developed by the researcher, Eysenck personality scale (EPQ) for children and adolescent, and method of Parenting handling scale. The Findings revealed that, no single style of conflict handling is always appropriate. In any given situation a particular mode of handling conflict may be suitable than others. statistical significant correlation between father and mother parenting styles and conflict resolution behaviors. There was positive statistical significant correlation between personality traits and smoothing behavior. To conclude, managing conflicts are important skills that can be exercised and learned in different relations context. Adolescents must be trained on how to use problem solving skills in daily life situation. Further studies are recommended to investigate the relationship between addiction susceptibility and its related psychological constructs such as intelligence, emotional intelligence, and identity style.Conflict resolution behaviours among addict adolescents in large sample and from different areas. |
