المستخلص This thesis deals with the dialogue ” De Providentia ” of Seneca , a study in the means of textual connective . This study focused on explaining the cohesion and coherence in the text , and calculate the means of textual connective in deep and surface structure of text , focused on textual means that Seneca used them to make the unity of text on syntactic and semantic level . This thesis is divided into the following topics : An introduction , five main chapters , the appendixes . The introduction : this dealt with the importance , objective , methodology of the research , previous studies and sources , and plan of research . Chapter one is entitled ” The dialogue between the principles of Stoicism and the Stoicism of Seneca , this chapter is divided into two sections : Section three : the stoicism of Seneca . Section four : the brief of the dialogue ” De Providentia ” Chapter two is entitled ” Introduction to Text Linguistics ” , this chapter is divided into four sections . Section one : the concept of sentence . Section two : conversion from sentence grammar to text grammar . Section three : the concept of text . Section four : the text linguistics . Chapter three is entitled ” Grammatical Cohesion ” , is divided into two main sections : Section one : the lexical and terminological meaning of grammatical cohesion . Section two : the means of grammatical cohesion , this section is divided into four sections . 1- Reference 2- Substitution 3- Ellipsis 4- conjunction Chapter four is entitle ” Lexical Cohesion ” , this chapter is divided into two sections : Section one : Reiteration Section two : Collocation Chapter five is entitled ” Semantic Coherence ” , this chapter is divided into three main sections : Section one : the lexical and terminological meaning of the Semantic Coherence . Section two : means of Semantic Coherence . Section three : the semantic relations and it’s role in the coherence of text . Conclusion : this summarized the main results concluded by the research , then three appendixes include tables , list of abbreviations used in periodicals , list of linguistic terms and finally list of sources and references . |
