Abstract In this thesis, different evolutionary approaches are used for combined heat and power economic dispatch (CHPED) solutions with small and medium systems consisting of 12 and 32 units ; respectively. First, four evolutionary approaches; namely particle swarm optimization (PSO), particle swarm optimization with inertia weight factor (PSOIWA) and particle swarm optimization with both constriction factor and inertia weight factor (PSOCFIWA) are tested on small system consisting of 12 units with two steam, four gas and six cogeneration units. The results of the four approaches are compared with those obtained using exiting performance testing method to find out the most effective approach. |
