Abstract This study is done to detect the relation between morphological changes in eosinophis and bronchial asthma in childr This study included 70 children divided as follow : • 40 asthmatic patient during acute asthma exacerbation . • 15 symptom free asthmatic patients . • 15 healthy children as a control group with no present ,past or family history of any allergic diseases. The following steps are done : • Full history is taken from all children . • Full general examination . • 1 cm peripheral blood is collected and prepared to be used under microscopy for detection of the degree of morphological changes in eosinophils . • comparison between the results of the three groups . Statistical Our results were as follow : • Morphological changes in eosinophils were more in patients during acute asthma exacerbation than in syptom free asthmatic patients and normal children . • Morphological changes in eosinophils were more in symptom free asthmatic patients than normal children . • Morphological changes in eosinophils increases with increase severity of the acute exacerbation . This study recommended using of morphological changes in eosinophils as a simple and non invasive test for follow up of asthmatic patients and in proper management of the acute asthma exacerbation. |
