Abstract

The present investigation was conducted on 96 equine; out of them 51horsesand 25 donkeys.For endoscopic examination was usingby equine video-endoscope (Eickemyer 3000 Vmec, Germany).And 10 horses and 10 donkeys were humanely euthanized for reviewing the normal anatomy of the upper gastrointestinal tract.The endoscopic examination was performedin hospital cases of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,Cairo UniversityfromMarch, 2013 to March, 2015.
This study has introduced anatomical and endoscopic depictions to the veterinarians aiming to facilitate correct diagnosis of the upper gastrointestinal disorders on the basis of endoscopic anatomy backgrounds. The recorded disordersof the upper gastrointestinal tract were confirmed byhistopathological examinations.
The endoscope examination observed and confirmed by the histopathological examination for disorder cases by take specimen during endoscopic biopsy, and saving this specimen in formal saline 10%, then histopathological cutting and pigmentation to examination of microscope that confirmed of any affection in slides.
This results of this study were confirmed the endoscopic examination is best examination to diagnosis and observe the disorders of upper gastro-intestinal tract of equine especially in some cases which don’t reach to diagnosis like; esophagitis, esophageal ulceration, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal invagination, gastritis, equine gastric ulcer syndrome, gastric impaction, gasterophilus, ascarisequorum, duodenitis and duodenal ulceration.
The results of endoscopicinspectionshowed that the disorders of esophagus in horses and donkeys were theleast disorders (11%), forward by the duodenal affections were (19%), and the stomach disorders (70%).
This study wasapproval of uses endoscopic examination in diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal tract in equine.
