Abstract

All field experiment were carried out at the Experimental Farm of El-Gemiza Research Station at Gharbia region, Agric. Research center during 2011and 2012 to survey arthropods on cotton plants as well as population fluctuations of sucking insect pests (A. gossypii, B. tabaci and Empoasca spp.) and bollworms. Also insect predators in cotton (C. carnea and S. interruptus), Efficiency of insecticides and biocides were tested against the insect pests. Also, side effects of these compounds against insect predators. 1. Survey the arthropods associated with cotton plants The arthropods found on cotton plant during 2011 and 2012. 54 species belonging to 38 families and 11 orders. Hymenoptera were the most dominant species. The collected arthropods were classified in to 14 harmful species and 33 beneficial species, visitors, pollinator, parasitoids and predators. 2. Population fluctuations sucking insect pests: 2.1. A. gossypii The basic period of activity A. gossypii in the first period (4th week of April to 3rd week of May). The second period from (1st week of July to 2nd week of Oct.) in the 1st season, while in the 2nd season the activity of A. gossypii from 4th week of April to 4th week of May
in the first period. While the second period from 2nd week of July to 2nd week of Oct. The population showed only one peak on 3rd week of Sept. in the both two seasons. 2.2. B. tabaci Results demonstrated that infestation with B. tabaci was observed from 1stweek of May in the first season, and from 4thweek of April in the second season to the end in the both two seasons.
